Modified: 11/23/2009 Wow, long weekend. On Friday night I hosted Pete Germinaro for a little striper hunting. We ran up to just north of Spring Lake, where I could read the stripers real well, but they wouldn't take a jig and I couldn't troll them up. They had developed a real good case of lockjaw. Saturday Captain Casey took out longtime client Mike Rodomski for some green crab action. The biggest tog went 7 1/2 pounds with very few shorts. They also jigged up a dozen blues and two short stripers. Sunday morning I was back at it with Mathew Loiselle and Collen Belliot for for stripers. The wind was blowing harder than forecasted early on and it only got stronger but Mat and Collen were real troopers and hung in there. They finished up jigging 10 stripers with 4 being keepers up to 35 inches, as well as more than 30 blues. One of Collen's blues pushed the scale down to 18 lbs.! She swings a mean jig and was a pleasure to fish wih. With the wind howling and the seas building, we decided to head in a little early, and had a smooth sail home with the wind at our backs.
