Just got back from our fourth trip to Panama with John Gibson, Mike Hall, and Mitch Poricov. We spent our first morning exploring part of the Panama Canal and Lake Gatun, catching small Peacock Bass, Oscars, and the whole jungle experience.
That afternoon we transferred over to the Bay of Chiriqui and the Panama Big Game Club. The Club recently went thru a major rnovation and is quite impressive. We fished a classic 31 foot Bertram that had been repowered and could really move.
Billfishing on Hannibal Bank dropped off dramatically a few days before we got there, so after a one day of fruitless trolling we switched over to bottom fishing with great results. Popping and drifting live and dead baits brought in tuna, cubera snapper, mullet snapper, rooster fish, blue trevally,, Pacific Barracuda, sierra mackeral, white tip sharks and jack crevalle.
Enjoy the photos, any questions give me a shout. Tight Lines--Rich
